Evaluation of Coordinated Grid Scheduling Strategies

2009 11th IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing and Communications, 2009
Grid computing has emerged as a way to share geographically and organizationally distributed resources that may belong to different institutions or administrative domains. In this context, the scheduling and resource management is usually performed by a grid resource broker.

Scheduling and coordination in manufacturing enterprise automation

Proceedings 2000 ICRA. Millennium Conference. IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation. Symposia Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37065), 2002
Manufacturing enterprise automation was focused on factory level where scheduling is a key issue in the past. As more and more companies are relying on their business partners or suppliers, the coordination of activities through the chain of suppliers becomes critical to quickly respond to changing market conditions.

Scheduler Vulnerabilities and Coordinated Attacks in Cloud Computing

2011 IEEE 10th International Symposium on Network Computing and Applications, 2011
In hardware virtualization a hypervisor provides multiple Virtual Machines (VMs) on a single physical system, each executing a separate operating system instance. The hypervisor schedules execution of these VMs much as the scheduler in an operating system does, balancing factors such as fairness and I/O performance.

Optimal Coordination Mechanisms for Unrelated Machine Scheduling

Operations Research, 2015
We investigate the influence of different algorithmic choices on the approximation ratio in selfish scheduling. Our goal is to design local policies that minimize the inefficiency of resulting equilibria. In particular, we design optimal coordination mechanisms for unrelated machine scheduling, and improve the known approximation ratio from Θ(m) to Θ ...

Coordinating selfish players in scheduling games

2015
We investigate coordination mechanisms that schedule n jobs on m unrelated machines. The objective is to minimize the makespan. It was raised as an open question whether it is possible to design a coordination mechanism that has constant price of anarchy using preemption. We give a negative answer. Next we introduce multi-job players that control a set

Scheduling and coordination of distributed design

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1999
Abstract A short product design cycle is critical for the success of companies in the era of time-based competition especially when companies are distributing design activities across regions to better penetrate local markets. Effectively managing distributed design activities, however, is extremely difficult because of intrinsic uncertainties of the

Coordinate Marketing Schedule with Construction Schedule

1991
In order to avoid holding costs, it is necessary to coordinate the rent-up or sales of the units with the completion of construction and obtaining the Certificate of Occupancy. Failure to rent or sell the units immediately upon completion results not only in holding costs and revenue, but also risks vandalism in vacant finished units.
