open access: yesGeoarchaeology, Volume 41, Issue 5, September/October 2026.

〈Articles〉 Silence Speaks ― A Minimalist Analysis of Multiple Sluicing ― [PDF]

Ungrammatical Double-Island Sluicing as a Diagnostic of Left-Branch Positioning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Sluicing, as described by Ross (1969), Chung, Ladusaw, and McCloskey (1995), and Merchant (2001), ameliorates island violations. In this paper, I identify constructions in which sluicing does not ameliorate island violations.

Sluicing in Slavic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The goal of this paper is to explore the properties of sluicing (i.e., clausal ellipsis) in Slavic languages. In turn, we will see how the Slavic data shed light on the nature of general processes underlying sluicing. First, I determine what positions wh-
