Journal of Monetary Economics, 2001Abstract Economic reforms are often postponed even if they are clearly beneficial. I argue that this may reflect a government's need to improve its reputation before it can enact a reform successfully. I study a model in which the government has a commitment problem in setting taxes that pay for reform.

Coordinated Structural Reforms: Insights from Fiscal and Labour Market Reforms in Germany
2018This chapter analyses fiscal and labour market reforms in Germany using an extended version of the medium-scale open economy DSGE model FiMod. The simulations suggest that the labour market reforms had a positive impact on GDP, consumption and employment.
