Bacterial Synthesis of Copper/Copper Oxide Nanoparticles

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2008
A bacterial mediated synthesis of copper/copper oxide nanoparticle composite is reported. A Gram-negative bacterium belonging to the genus Serratia was isolated from the midgut of Stibara sp., an insect of the Cerambycidae family of beetles found in the Northwestern Ghats of India. This is a unique bacterium that is quite specific for the synthesis of

Cytotoxicity and Genotoxicity of Copper oxide Nanoparticles in chickens

Biological Trace Element Research, 2021
Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) are consciously used to control the growth of bacteria, fungi, and algae. Several studies documented the beneficial and hazardous effects of CuO-NPs on human cells and different experimental animals but there are not many studies that report the effect of CuO-NPs in poultry.

Preparation and Characterization of Copper Oxide and Copper Nanoparticles

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
Copper oxide was prepared via the calcination of copper oxalate precursor. By using high-temperature solvent method, the precursor decomposed under nitrogen atmosphere and copper nanoparticles were obtained. The microstructure and properties of the products were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, UV-Vis spectroscopy ...

Antibacterial Properties of Graphene Oxide–Copper Oxide Nanoparticle Nanocomposites

ACS Applied Bio Materials, 2019
The resistance of pathogenic bacteria toward traditional biocidal treatment methods is a growing concern in various settings, including that of water treatment and in the medical industry. As such, advanced antibacterial technologies are needed to prevent infections, against which current antibiotics are failing.

Systemic Toxicity and Teratogenicity of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles and Copper Sulfate

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2018
Acceleration in development of metallic nanoparticles for their utility in medical and technological applications due to their unique physicochemical properties has concurrently raised a matter of concern due to their potential toxicity. Of the enormous metallic nanostructures, copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) having optical and electrochemical ...

Genotoxicity of copper oxide nanoparticles in Drosophila melanogaster

Mutation Research/Genetic Toxicology and Environmental Mutagenesis, 2015
Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) are used as semiconductors, catalysts, gas sensors, and antimicrobial agents. We have used the comet and wing-spot assays in Drosophila melanogaster to assess the genotoxicity of CuONPs and ionic copper (CuSO4). Lipid peroxidation analysis was also performed (Thiobarbituric Acid Assay, TBARS).

Characterisation of copper oxide nanoparticles for antimicrobial applications

International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents, 2009
Copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles were characterised and investigated with respect to potential antimicrobial applications. It was found that nanoscaled CuO, generated by thermal plasma technology, contains traces of pure Cu and Cu2O nanoparticles. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) demonstrated particle sizes in the range 20-95 nm.

Oxygen Plasma Generated Copper/Copper Oxides Nanoparticles

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2004
Oxygen-plasma-generated CuOx nanoparticles enhanced the carriers injection from indium−tin oxide (ITO) anode into organic materials. Atomic force microscopy images revealed that the CuOx nanoparticles appeared as high-ordered nanotip arrays on substrates. Those nanoparticles induced strong field-emission current.
