In Vivo and In Vitro Digestibility and Fermentation Characteristics of Spent Mushroom Substrate (Pleurotus ostreatus) as a Feed Resource for Small Ruminants

open access: yesAnimal Science Journal, Volume 96, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the nutritional value of spent mushroom substrate (SMS) supplemented with 4% urea and 18% molasses as a partial roughage replacement in small ruminant diets. Four dietary treatments were formulated using 70% roughage (Napier grass) and 30% commercial concentrate, with SMS replacing Napier grass at 0%, 20%, 35%, or 50 ...

Nutritional enrichment of cereal foods: feasibility study and characterisation of biscuits fortified with seabass by‐products

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Science &Technology, Volume 59, Issue 8, Page 5376-5388, August 2024.
Antioxidants are essential to preserve the polyunsaturated fatty acids during fish meal (FM) and fish protein hydrolysates (FPH) production. Maillard reaction makes FM and FPH biscuits to have higher colour and toasted flavour than control biscuits. Interesting increase of high biological value protein and polyunsaturated fatty acids are managed.
