Current Problems in Diagnostic Radiology, 2012
l t d t i A 34-year-old unrestrained female passenger complained of right shoulder pain following a motor vehicle crash. Anteroposterior view of the right shoulder was unremarkable (Fig 1A). Grashey view (45° posterior oblique) suggested a fracture of the distal coracoid (Fig 1B), which was confirmed on an axillary projection (Fig 1C).

Failed acromioclavicular (AC) joint reconstruction secondary to a coracoid fracture or insufficiency of the coracoid is an uncommon but challenging clinical situation. We describe a surgical technique of revision coracoclavicular (CC) reconstruction, the coracoid bypass procedure, and report short-term results with this technique in 3 patients. In the ...

Coracoid impingement: current concepts
Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, 2012AbstractFor many years, coracoid impingement has been a well‐recognized cause of anterior shoulder pain. However, a precise diagnosis of coracoid impingement remains difficult in some cases due to the presence of multifactorial pathologies and a paucity of supporting evidence in the literature.

The majority of type I coracoid fractures set out in Ogawa's classification constitute double disruption of the superior shoulder suspensory complex (SSSC) as proposed by Goss, frequently resulting in healing delay and adverse functional consequences. However, there are few reports alluding to strategies or concrete treatment methods of such injuries ...

Arthroscopic treatment of coracoid impingement
Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic & Related Surgery, 2001A review of the literature reveals that surgical treatment of coracoid impingement has heretofore involved open surgical decompression in all cases. Previously unreported, the authors describe an arthroscopic technique to treat coracoid impingement syndrome, demonstrate its feasibility, and cover the specific technical points that facilitate this ...

Fractures of the coracoid process
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1995We have reviewed 12 fractures of the coracoid process. In two of these patients the fracture extended into the body of the scapula and resulted in displacement of the glenoid. In some cases, there were associated acromioclavicular and glenohumeral dislocations or fractures of the clavicle and the acromion.

Anterior shoulder dislocations are commonly associated with humeral greater tuberosity fractures (w16% of cases), which include Hill-Sachs lesions. 19 The second most common fracture associated with an anterior shoulder dislocation is a fracture of the anterior glenoid (i.e., bony Bankart lesion).

Arthroscopic Coracoid Transfer
2013The best operative procedure to address anterior recurrent instability in both the index and revision setting remains a subject of orthopaedic surgical debate. Though many published reports propose treatment algorithms to aid the surgeon in operative technique selection; ultimately, institutional precedent and surgeon experience often dictate the ...

Sonography of the Coracoid Process Region
Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, 2016Sonography is widely known as an accurate imaging tool for assessment of the rotator cuff of the shoulder, the long head of the biceps tendon, and joint disorders, but it is rarely performed to evaluate the coracoid process and the adjacent soft tissues.
