CORDS

ACM SIGGRAPH 2004 Sketches on - SIGGRAPH '04, 2004
Cords are curve primitives that allow an animator to create, with keyframe precision, complex animations of one-dimesional objects such as string or wire that bend and wrap around scene geometry. While physical simulations are commonly used to model the motion of physically-based curve primitives [Pai 2002], they remain difficult for an animator to ...

Umbilical Cord Hernia Mimicking a Cord Teratoma

Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Canada, 2009
Most umbilical cord masses detected by sonography are angiomyxomas, hematomas, or teratomas. Cord teratomas arise from totipotent stem cells and contain tissue from the three germ-cell layers. Tumour components are foreign to surrounding tissue and may have a polymorphic presentation. We report a case of a suspected umbilical cord teratoma, identified ...

Series Faults in Electrical Cords and Extension Cords

2019 IEEE/IAS 55th Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference (I&CPS), 2019
In electrical power systems, the cords and extension cords are exposed to mechanical damage and other insulation stresses. Mechanical damage to the stranded conductors can reduce locally their cross section or break them and cause anomalous local conditions of overheating or arcing.

Spinal cord

2018
We first present a brief historic review of developments in the understanding of spinal cord clinical neuroanatomy and neurophysiology over the past 200 years. We then discuss the technical aspects that apply to the examination of the human spinal cord giving details on the interrelations between the spinal cord and the overlying structures, including ...

The Harmonic Cord

Nature, 1947
WHILE the possibility of vibrating a thin cord regularly in a flat plane from a tuning fork has long been known as the Melde cord, from its discoverer ; and the development of large cigar-shaped loops on a thick stretched cord, corresponding to the fundamental and harmonic frequencies, by variable-speed electric-motor drive adjusted to the natural ...

Cord abnormalities, structural lesions, and cord “accidents”

Seminars in Diagnostic Pathology, 2007
As the umbilical cord is the lifeline of the fetus, obstruction or disruption of blood flow through the umbilical vessels can lead to severe fetal compromise. Obstruction is usually mechanical in nature and is associated with compression of the umbilical cord and umbilical vessels. Disruption of umbilical or fetal vessels is usually traumatic in origin.
