Statistical and dynamical downscaling methods are tested for their reproduction of compound dry‐hot events, using three representatives of each category. Statistical methods are found to better detect when they are produced, whereas dynamical downscaling better simulates their distribution over the whole period.

Consistency of the regional response to global warming levels from CMIP5 and CORDEX projections
Assessing the regional responses to different Global Warming Levels (GWLs; e.g. + 1.5, 2, 3 and 4 ºC) is one of the most important challenges in climate change sciences since the Paris Agreement goal of keeping global temperature increase well below 2 °C

The lack of comprehensive agroclimatic studies in Istria (Croatia), particularly those focusing on trends in olive phenology and the creation of statistical models to predict future phenological phases, has been the key driver behind this research.

Future heat waves over the Mediterranean from an Euro-CORDEX regional climate model ensemble
Heat waves are among the most relevant extreme climatic events due to their effects on society, agriculture and environment. The aim of this work is to improve our understanding of heat waves over the Mediterranean basin during the 21 st century from an ...

A Climatology of Heatwaves Over Greece for the Period 1960–2022
This research examines the spatiotemporal evolution of heatwaves in Greece from 1960 to 2022, utilising a long timeseries of homogenised high‐quality data with broad spatial coverage. It focuses on identifying heatwaves using verified definitions, introducing spatial and intensity classifications to understand their diverse regional variations ...

Blocking representation in the ERA-Interim driven EURO-CORDEX RCMs [PDF]
While Regional Climate Models (RCMs) have been shown to yield improved simulations compared to General Circulation Model (GCM), their representation of large-scale phenomena like atmospheric blocking has been hardly addressed. Here, we evaluate the ability of RCMs to simulate blocking situations present in their reanalysis driving data and analyse the ...

Assessing Multidomain Overlaps and Grand Ensemble Generation in CORDEX Regional Projections
The Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) initiative has made available an enormous amount of regional climate projections in different domains worldwide. This information is crucial for the development of adaptation strategies and

A Ricardian valuation of the impact of climate change on Nigerian cocoa production: Insight for adaptation policy [PDF]
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine the relative importance of climate normals (average long-term temperature and precipitation) in explaining net farm revenue per hectare (NRh) for supplementary irrigated and rainfed cocoa farms in Nigeria.
