Mechanical Properties of Bioactive Glass-Cordierite Composite [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2023
Bioactive glass (BG) can be utilized as a replacement and regeneration material for orthopaedic and orthodontic. However, a load-bearing structure requires good mechanical properties to withstand high stress, in addition to good bioactivity properties ...

Thermodynamics of water in cordierite and some petrologic consequences of cordierite as a hydrous phase

open access: yesContributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, 1979
The H2O content of cordierite is often regarded as incidental to its stability, probably because cordierite has substantial fields of stability at low pressures both in wet and dry experimental systems. In this paper we show that, in contrast, the molecular water content of cordierite has profound effects on many equilibria involving this phase.

Gemological Characteristics of Blue-Violet Cordierite

open access: yesCrystals
Cordierite is a violet-blue gem mineral primarily composed of magnesium aluminum silicate. This study employed three samples of Mg-cordierite and conducted tests on their gemological characteristics, spectroscopic features, and chemical composition using

Erosive wear resistance of silicon carbide-cordierite ceramics: influence of the cordierite content [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A cordierite/SiC composite was created in situ with reactive sintering at 1250 degrees C and 1300 degrees C. The cordierite precursor was made from commercially available spinel, alumina and quartz and was mixed with the comercial SiC powder to obtain composite materials during the sintering. It was found that cordierite particles bind efficiently with

Wetting and penetration of cordierite and mullite materials by non-stoichiometric cordierite liquids [PDF]

open access: yesCeramics International, 2008
Abstract The wetting and penetration of two non-stoichiometric cordierite liquids (labelled G1 = 25 wt.% Al 2 O 3 , 63 wt.% SiO 2 and 12 wt.% MgO, and G2 = 20 wt.% Al 2 O 3 , 64 wt.% SiO 2 and 16 wt.% MgO) on sintered cordierite and mullite substrates were investigated.

A Modified Scheffe's Simplex Lattice Design Method in Development of Ceramic Carriers for Catalytic Neutralizers of Gas Emissions

open access: yesChemistry Journal of Moldova: General, Industrial and Ecological Chemistry, 2021
A modified Scheffe's simplex lattice design method is proposed to study the properties of multicomponent materials. This modified Scheffe's method allowed determining the optimal compositions of cordierite and corundum based ceramic materials that are ...

A reactive assimilation model for regional-scale cordierite-bearing granitoids: geochemical evidence from the Late Variscan granites of the Central Iberian Zone, Spain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Regional scale biotite and cordierite-bearing granites (s.l.) in the Variscan of the Central Iberian Zone (CIZ) are spatially closely associated with cordierite-rich nebulites and cordierite-bearing two-mica granites, and with cordierite-rich high grade ...

Synthesis and characterization of cordierite and cordierite-zirconia by conventional approach

open access: yesJournal of Ovonic Research, 2022
A wide recognition for cordierite ceramic due to its superior mechanical and electrical properties made cordierite a candidate for study. A simple approach of synthesis of cordierite and cordierite zirconia (5-15 wt %) was tried at the stoichiometric composition with standard raw material of high purity. The binder, lubricant and flux such as polyvinyl

Cordierite ceramics for applications in foundry practice [PDF]

open access: yesHemijska Industrija, 2007
The research of new ceramic coatings has an important role in the improvement and development of new casting methods, especially casting with meltable and evaporable patterns. The selection of ceramic materials to be used as refractory fillers, materials
