Parallel adaptation to lower altitudes is associated with enhanced plasticity in Heliosperma pusillum (Caryophyllaceae)

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 115, Issue 6, Page 1619-1632, September 2023., 2023
Significance Statement In early stages of adaptation to hotter and drier habitats, an alpine plant in the carnation family shows increased expression plasticity at ecologically relevant genes. This paper investigates two contrasting hypotheses regarding the role of phenotypic plasticity during evolution of alpine/montane plant ecotypes.

El paleomovimiento de Fonfría (Villablino, Cordillera Cantábrica)

open access: yesGeogaceta, 2023

MOPREDAS_century database and precipitation trends in mainland Spain, 1916–2020

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 43, Issue 8, Page 3828-3840, 30 June 2023., 2023
Monthly trends were analysed using a moving windows approach with increasing, decreasing and fixed‐length intervals. The main results showed that the global trend (i.e., annual precipitation) between 1916 and 2020 mostly is not significant. Results obtained from monthly trend analysis show wet and dry periods.

Population dynamics of recovering apex predators: Golden eagles in a Mediterranean landscape

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, Volume 319, Issue 2, Page 99-111, February 2023., 2023
Density‐dependence, resource availability and human pressure at territorial level drive population dynamics in a recovering apex‐predator population. Abstract Apex predators play a critical role in shaping the biological and functional diversity of ecosystems.

Culex pipiens distribution in Tunisia: Identification of suitable areas through Random Forest and MaxEnt approaches

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 2703-2715, November 2022., 2022
In the present study, our aim was to predict and evaluate the potential and current distribution of Cx. pipiens in Tunisia by using two species distribution models, i.e. MaxEnt and Random Forest. Occurrence records for Cx. pipiens were obtained from adult and larvae sampled in Tunisia from 2014 to 2017.

Introducing a mechanistic model in digital soil mapping to predict soil organic matter stocks in the Cantabrian region (Spain)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Soil Science, Volume 72, Issue 2, Page 704-719, March 2021., 2021
Abstract Digital soil mapping (DSM) is an effective mapping technique that supports the increased need for quantitative soil data. In DSM, soil properties are correlated with environmental characteristics using statistical models such as regression.

Evidence of an upper ordovician thermo-metamorphic event in the SW-Corner of the Cantabrian Mountains (N-Spain)

open access: yesEstudios Geologicos, 1992

open access: yesEstudios Geologicos, 1988
