Radiocarbon Dates on Deglaciation, Cordillera Central, Northern Peruvian Andes

Quaternary Research, 1989
AbstractThree radiocarbon dates along with relative-dating criteria place limits on the deglaciation history of Manachaque Valley, Cordillera Central. Ice retreated from the late-glacial maximum by at least 12,100 yr B.P. During ice retreat numerous moraines were deposited throughout the valley.

Sedimentology of Large Olistoliths, Southern Cordillera Central, Hispaniola

SEPM Journal of Sedimentary Research, 1992
ABSTRACT More than 500 large, well exposed, calcareous olistoliths of Paleocene to Eocene age are exposed in the Eocene deep-water Rio Ocoa Formation of southern Hispaniola. Due to the low degree of tectonic overprint, their sedimentary characteristics can be studied in detail. The olistoliths reach up to 6 km in length and are largely conformable with

Crustal and uppermost mantle velocity structure beneath the Cordillera Central and Cordillera Oriental, Dominican Republic

The oblique convergence between the Caribbean and North American plates produces the tectonic complexity of Hispaniola Island. The western region is characterized by high topography bounded by dominantly reverse and oblique-slip faults along the edges of the uplifted mountain ranges, while the eastern part is lower in elevation and no important active ...
