Impact of ENSO Events on the Hydrological System of the Cordillera de los Andes during the last 450 Years

The correlation between river runoff and ENSO-events in the Cuyo region, western Argentina was studied. It could be shown that most “wet” years are associated with an ENSO- event (preceding or same year) while only about 67 percent of ENSO events cause high river runoff in the study-area.
