Description of last instar larva of Cordulegaster kalkmani (Odonata: Cordulegastridae)
The final instar larva of Cordulegaster kalkmani Schneider, Vierstraete, Müller, van Pelt, Caspers, Ikemeyer, Snegovaya & Dumont 2021 is described and illustrated based on one female exuvia collected in Alakabük, Bitlis province, Turkey, in July 2022 ...

Approximately 15% of Cordulegaster heros larvae are capable of surviving 3 weeks without surface water under laboratory conditions. The survival probability was significantly increased if animals burrowed into the sediment. Survival probability was higher on fine substrate material. Size of the larvae only affected the burrowing depth.

A cost-effective method to quantify biological surface sediment reworking [PDF]
We propose a simple and inexpensive method to determine the rate and pattern of surface sediment reworking by benthic organisms. Unlike many existing methods commonly used in bioturbation studies, which usually require sediment sampling, our approach is ...

The development of sexual differences in body size in Odonata in relation to mating systems
Adult body size is the result of important environmental, maternal and/or genetic effects acting on animals during development. Here we investigate how sexual size dimorphism (SSD) develops in seven species of Odonata: Anax imperator, Cordulegaster ...

Paper presents the first record in the Stołowe Mountains of a rare, protected by law Golden-ringed Dragonfly Cordulegaster boltonii. One specimen was hunted by a domestic cat in 2022 in Łężyce village. The presented locality (c. 600m a.s.l.) is one of the most elevated localities of this species in Poland.

Morphological adaptations of the mouthparts to the ectoparasitic lifestyle of the biting midge Forcipomyia paludis (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae), specialized in Odonata [PDF]
Damselflies and dragonflies are well-known hosts of the West Palaearctic biting midge Forcipomyia paludis. Females of this ectoparasitic dipteran mainly cling to the host’s wings, sucking hemolymph from the wing veins.

The influence of relief morphometric characteristics upon the occurrence of the species Cordulegaster bidentata in the particular conditions of the Western Carpathians [PDF]
The study concerns a monitoring survey of Cordulegaster bidentata Selys, 1843 (Odonata, Cordulegastridae), which is considered near threatened in the European Red List of Dragonflies, in order to show its habitat preferences and clarify the influence of ...

Biological Invasion and Coexistence in Intraguild Predation
Invasion of an exotic species initiated by its local introduction is considered subject to intraguild predation (IGP). Mathematically, the system dynamics is described by three nonlinear diffusion‐reaction equations in two spatial dimensions. The key factors that determine successful invasion are investigated by means of extensive numerical simulations.
