Stream Invertebrate Responses to Fine Sediment Depend on the Organic and Inorganic Components
ABSTRACT Excess fine sediment ( < 2 mm) is a pervasive stressor of aquatic systems at a global scale. To date, most research quantifying ecological response to deposited fine sediment has been conducted without distinguishing between the organic and inorganic components of fine sediment, leaving mechanistic understanding of how fine sediment affects ...

Abstract The presence of sediment‐burrowing clubtail dragonflies (Gomphidae) may be directly related to riverine geomorphic properties. Their synchronous emergence behavior, marked by persistent exuviae, allows for the examination of emerging adult‐stage habitats.

Abstract Ecosystem engineers facilitate beneficiary species by ameliorating physical habitat. The stress‐gradient hypothesis (SGH) predicts the importance of facilitation in communities should increase with physical stress but has rarely been tested in freshwater.

Live adult male specimens of C. brevistigma and W. atkinsoni have been collected from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh (India). Male germ cell chromosomes of the species are described on the basis of conventional staining, C-banding, silver nitrate staining and sequence specific staining. Both the species possesses 2n = 25m, as a diploid chromosome number and (

Morphological variability of Cordulegaster trinacriae in Italy (Odonata: Cordulegastridae)
This paper describes the most helpful features for field identification of C. trinacriae and the relevant morphological variability encountered. In C. trinacriae the yellow frons was without a dark horizontal marking in about 70 % of the sample or showed a barely patterned frons, while the remaining 30 % showed a more or less defined dark smudge ...

The larva of Cordulegaster vanbrinkae Lohmann, 1993 is described and illustrated based on fourteen final instar larvae and 49 exuviae that were collected in Gīlān, Māzandarān and Golestān provinces, in northern Iran in July 2014, July 2017 and August 2018.

Cordulegastridae Tillyard, 1917 is an enigmatic Odonata family with mainly Holarctic distribution. One of its five genera is Thecagaster Selys, 1854, a genus restricted to smaller brooks, trickles, or seepages in the spring or near the spring regions in moderated high mountain areas of the Palaearctic Region.

Paper presents the first record in the Stołowe Mountains of a rare, protected by law Golden-ringed Dragonfly Cordulegaster boltonii. One specimen was hunted by a domestic cat in 2022 in Łężyce village. The presented locality (c. 600m a.s.l.) is one of the most elevated localities of this species in Poland.
