Serum soluble mediator signatures of lupus nephritis: histological features and response to treatment

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Lupus nephritis (LN) management remains challenging, and novel noninvasive biomarkers are needed. This study quantified serum soluble mediators in the Accelerating Medicines Partnership (AMP) LN cohort to identify biomarkers of histological features and treatment response.

3D In Vitro Models of Breast Cancer: Current Challenges and Future Prospects Toward Recapitulating the Microenvironment and Mimicking Key Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
In vitro cancer models are advantageous for studying important processes such as tumorigenesis, cancer growth, invasion, and metastasis. The complexity and biological relevance increase depending on the model structure, organization, and composition of materials and cells.

Comparison of EUS-guided tissue acquisition using two different 19-gauge core biopsy needles: a multicenter, prospective, randomized, and blinded study

open access: yesEndoscopy International Open, 2014
Background and study aims: The optimal core biopsy needle for endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is unknown. The principle aim of this study is to compare outcomes of EUS-fine-needle biopsy (EUS-FNB) with a new 19-gauge EUS histology needle (ProCore, Cook ...

RRP9 Promotes Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Progression through E2F1 Transcriptional Regulation of CDK1

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The study reveals that RRP9 is abnormally highly expressed in ESCC tissues and is closely associated with poor prognosis in patients. Furthermore, it is found that RRP9 promotes ESCC progression through enhancing the E2F1‐mediated transcriptional regulation of CDK1.

Percutaneous large core breast biopsy [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1994
Surgical excision biopsy is considered by many to be the "gold standard" for the diagnosis of breast lesions. Fine needle aspiration biopsy is used by some radiologists and other physicians in an attempt to diagnose breast lesions nonsurgically. To overcome the drawbacks associated with both of these methods, the author and his coworkers have developed

Loss of Stat3 in Prx1+ Progenitors Impairs Molar Root Development

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Stat3 critically regulates mandibular first molar and alveolar bone morphogenesis. Conditional ablation of Stat3 disrupts the osteogenic capacity of Prx1+ mesenchymal progenitors, as evidenced across in vivo and in vitro models. Abstract Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3 (Stat3) acts as a central transcriptional modulator coordinating ...
