Mucinous invasive carcinoma of the breast and its differential diagnosis by core biopsy: review of the literature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010

Ultrasound-guided diagnostic breast biopsy methodology: retrospective comparison of the 8-gauge vacuum-assisted biopsy approach versus the spring-loaded 14-gauge core biopsy approach

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2011
Background Ultrasound-guided diagnostic breast biopsy technology represents the current standard of care for the evaluation of indeterminate and suspicious lesions seen on diagnostic breast ultrasound.

Percutaneous biopsy of the renal mass: FNA or core needle biopsy?

open access: yesCancer Cytopathology, 2017
In recent years, there have been increasing indications for percutaneous renal biopsy. Fine‐needle aspiration (FNA), with or without core needle biopsy (CB), has been used increasingly in the management of renal tumors at the study institution.

Microbubble‐Controlled Delivery of Biofilm‐Targeting Nanoparticles to Treat MRSA Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, an effective strategy using microbubble (MB)‐controlled delivery of biofilm‐targeting nanoparticles (BTNs) for removal and therapy of methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) biofilm infections is introduced. In vivo delivery of MB with BTN is demonstrated to silence key bacterial genes involved in biofilm formation (icaA), bacterial ...

Ask a pathologist [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
QUESTION: My patient has a palpable neck mass that is suspicious for malignancy, and I am considering ordering a fine needle aspiration (FNA) versus a core needle or open biopsy.

Teaching percutaneous renal biopsy using unfixed human cadavers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Percutaneous renal biopsy (PRB) is an important diagnostic procedure. Despite advances in its safety profile there remains a small but significant risk of bleeding complications.

Tunable Synthetic Hydrogel Modulates Hepatic Lineage Specification of Human Liver Organoid

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, a synthetic hydrogel is reported that supports the formation of hiPSC‐derived human liver organoids (HLOs). Hepatic lineage specification can be modulated via conjugation of RGD peptide to hydrogel: RGD‐conjugated hydrogels promote cholangiocyte differentiation, whereas RGD‐free hydrogels favor hepatocyte commitment of HLO cells.

Predicting High-Grade Cancer at Ten-Core Prostate Biopsy Using Four Kallikrein Markers Measured in Blood in the ProtecT Study

open access: yesJournal of the National Cancer Institute, 2015
Background: Many men with elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in serum do not have aggressive prostate cancer and undergo unnecessary biopsy.

A Peptide Nucleic Acid‐Functionalized Heterojunction Thin Film Transistor as a Scalable and Reusable Platform for Label‐Free Detection of MicroRNA

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A miniaturized, label‐free, and enzyme‐free biosensor (miR‐TFT) enables direct electrical detection of microRNA (miRNA) with single‐nucleotide specificity and a detection limit of 0.6 fM. Built on a tri‐channel In2O3/ZnO heterojunction and functionalized with bespoke peptide nucleic acid (PNA) probes, the device is robust, reusable, and compatible with
