Ultrafast annular-magnetic-field-driven vortex-core reversals

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
By micromagnetic numerical simulations, we investigate the dynamics of vortex-core reversal in a soft magnetic nanodisk under the excitation of annular, perpendicular, resonant magnetic fields.

Transcriptomics as an Early Warning of Domoic Acid Exposure in Pacific Razor Clams (Siliqua patula)

open access: yesToxins
As oceans warm, harmful algal blooms (HABs) are expected to increase, including blooms of Pseudo-nitzschia, a diatom that produces domoic acid (DA), which is a potent neurotoxin.

A Laboratory Model for Iron Snow in Planetary Cores

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Solidification of the cores of small planets and moons is thought to occur in the “iron snow” regime, in which iron crystals form near the core‐mantle boundary and fall until re‐melting at greater depth. The resulting buoyancy flux may sustain convection

Magnetic Fields in Quasar Cores. II.

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2000
Multi-frequency polarimetry with the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) telescope has revealed absolute Faraday Rotation Measures (RMs) in excess of 1000 rad/m/m in the central regions of 7 out of 8 strong quasars studied (e.g., 3C 273, 3C 279, 3C 395). Beyond a projected distance of ~20 pc, however, the jets are found to have |RM| < 100 rad/m/m.

The intensity of the geomagnetic field from 2.4 Ga old Indian dykes

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2014
Precambrian paleomagnetic records from dyke swarms provide a unique source of information regarding the Archean geomagnetic field and more specifically the average field strength produced by the early dynamo.

Geomagnetic core field models and secular variation forecasts for the 13th International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF-13)

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2020
Observations of the geomagnetic field taken at Earth’s surface and at satellite altitude are combined to construct continuous models of the geomagnetic field and its secular variation from 1957 to 2020.

Outer Core Stratification From the High Latitude Structure of the Geomagnetic Field

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2018
The presence of stable stratification has broad implications for the thermal and compositional state of the outer core, the evolution of Earth's deep interior, and the energetics of the geodynamo.

Objectification Features of Social Exclusion and Social Inclusion Categories in the Russian Language (Exemplified by “Glubinka” and “Glush” Concepts)

open access: yesВестник Волгоградского государственного университета: Серия 2. Языкознание, 2023
The article is devoted to the consideration of the objectification peculiarities of the social exclusion and social inclusion categories in the territorial aspect in the Russian language on the case of the “glubinka” (“hinterland”) and “glush ...

Bridging the Gap in Neuroblastoma Care: Consensus‐Based Statements With Recommendations for Improved Patient and Caregiver Experiences

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neuroblastoma's complex, heterogeneous biology poses significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, often requiring caregivers to absorb complex information and participate in time‐sensitive decisions. However, caregivers often feel unprepared to evaluate options.

Field distribution anomalies and dielectric failure mechanisms associated with core surface defects in liquid-insulated power transformers [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
Core burr defects are latent sources of electric field distortion and insulation degradation in oil-immersed power transformers. To elucidate their physical mechanism and quantitative impact, this study combines finite element analysis and field testing ...
