Advances in estimating the Phillips curve
Many studies have documented the missing relationship between PCE inflation and the labor market slack in the last 20 years. This paper first presents evidence of a strong sensitivity of price inflation to labor market tightness once we remove the late ...

Denoised Inflation: A New Measure of Core Inflation
Abstract Existing measures of core inflation ignore a part of ‘should be’ the core inflation. Exclusion based measures ‘exclude’ a part of persistent inflation inherently existing in the excluded part whereas filter based measures ‘filter-out’ the cyclical part also rather than the irregular component only. This study proposes a new idea

Comparative analysis of the core inflation for Russia
Consumer price index is a measure of inflation and it consists of two parts: persistent component (trend inflation) and short-term shocks. Inflation targeting requires index of core inflation, that independent from shortterm shocks and demonstrates the ...

Forecasting core inflation: the case of South Africa
Underlying, or core, inflation is likely the most important variable for monetary policy. It is considered to be the optimal nominal anchor as it is stable, excludes relative price shocks, and reflects underlying trends in the behaviour of price-setters ...

Simulating the inflation of bubbles by late jets in core collapse supernova ejecta [PDF]
We conducted 3D hydrodynamical simulations to study the interaction of two late opposite jets with the ejecta of a core collapse supernova (CCSN), and study the bipolar structure that results from this interaction as the jets inflate hot-low-density ...

Measuring Core Inflation [PDF]
In this paper, we investigate the use of limited-information estimators as measures of core inflation. Employing a model of asymmetric supply disturbances, with costly price adjustment, we show how the observed skewness in the cross-sectional distribution of inflation can cause substantial noise in the aggregate price index at high frequencies.

The Difference of the Actual Price Level from the Equilibrium One and its Impact on Inflation [PDF]
Within the modern monetary policy regimes, the inflationary pressures are, generally, approximated by the excessive demand that generate pressures on the fixed production capacity resulting in a change of prices. This excessive demand is estimated as the

A proposal for constructing and evaluating core inflation measures
There is no unifying framework for evaluating core inflation measures, so we propose a methodological framework to close this gap. It allows us to construct, evaluate, and rank core inflation measures by applying it to countries and regions with ...

Short-Run Forecasting of Core Inflation in Ukraine: a Combined ARMA Approach
The ability to produce high-quality inflation forecasts is crucial for modern central banks. Inflation forecasts are needed for understanding current and forthcoming inflation trends, evaluating the effectiveness of previous policy actions, making new ...
