Four-core optical fiber as a calorimetric gauge

Applied Optics, 2016
A four-core optical fiber is demonstrated as a calorimetric gauge for investigation of one-dimensional heat transfer measurements. Transient heat pulses from a Nd:YAG laser of 600 ms duration with a repetition rate of the order of 10 s are delivered onto the cleaved distal end face of the four-core fiber, aiming at one of the single cores only, which ...

Intermodal dispersion in two-core optical fibers

Optics Letters, 1995
The switching characteristics of a two-core optical fiber can be described by the beating of the even and odd modes of the composite two-core structure. It is shown that the group-delay difference between these two modes can be as large as 10 ps/m.
