Distribution under climate change of Anemone coronaria: linking flower colour and seed dispersal

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 6, June 2026.
Flower colour polymorphism is driven by divergent selection regimes on the colour morphs across time and space. Anemone coronaria, a colour‐polymorphic geophyte with red, purple, and white flowers, displays a geographic pattern along Israel's aridity gradient: polymorphic populations are restricted to Mediterranean climates, while monomorphic‐red ...

Carbon monoxide‐triggered near‐infrared photoacoustic‐fluorescent integrated visualization tool for auxiliary diagnosis of heart failure and evaluation of reversal drug efficacy

open access: yesSmart Molecules, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2026.
An activatable metal‐free probe CS‐CO enables the first non‐invasive photoacoustic/fluorescence visualization of carbon monoxide (CO) fluctuations during heart failure and its reversal, linking CO levels directly to disease status. Abstract Heart failure (HF), a major global health challenge with high morbidity and mortality, lacks effective biomarkers

A Metal‐Free Carbon Monoxide Prodrug Suppresses Metastasis of Pancreatic and Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 29, 22 May 2026.
A metal‐free carbon monoxide (CO) prodrug, CO‐116, delivers controlled systemic CO without inhalation. CO suppresses the HRG1–heme axis, reducing intracellular heme availability. Attenuation of this pathway inhibits metastatic progression in pancreatic and triple‐negative breast cancer models.

Effect of Carbon Monoxide Donor CORM-2 on Vitamin D3 Metabolism

open access: yesKidney & Blood Pressure Research, 2013
Background/Aims: Carbon monoxide (CO) interferes with cytochrome-dependent cellular functions and acts as gaseous transmitter. CO is released from CO-releasing molecules (CORM) including tricarbonyl-dichlororuthenium (II) dimer (CORM-2), molecules ...

Fermented Foods and Beverages of Ethiopia: Substrates, Traditional Preparation Techniques, and Nutritional Quality

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
Traditional Ethiopian fermented foods and beverages such as Injera, Kocho, and Tella provide important health benefits, including improved nutrient bioavailability, gut health, and digestibility. However, challenges such as lack of standardization, insufficient documentation, and economic constraints limit their wider development and commercialization.
