Effects of temperature and vector age at the time of acquisition on the transmission of maize bushy stunt phytoplasma by the corn leafhopper, Dalbulus maidis (DeLong & Wolcott), were studied. Mean latent period in the leafhopper and transmission rate of the Tlaltizapan maize bushy stunt phytoplasma isolate had a quadratic relation with temperature ...

Dalbulus maidis (DeLong & Wolcott) (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) is one of the most important pathogen vectors on maize, but its courtship behavior has never been documented. In the present study, we recorded length of courtship and mating periods and behavioral transitions for D. maidis.

Environmental Entomology, 1986
Laboratory life tables were constructed for Graminella nigrifrons (Forbes) using Johnsongrass and corn as hosts. Daily mortality and fecundity schedules were established to estimate net reproductive rate and instantaneous rate of population increase on each host. Nymphal mortality on Johnsongrass was greatest in the fifth instar.

Potato Leafhopper Control, European Corn Borer Damage, Yield and Grade of Tenderette Var. Snap Beans
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1976Abstract Several insecticides were evaluated for control of these insects at the University of Wisconsin Experimental Farm, Hancock, Wisconsin. Each treatment consisted of four replicates in a complete block design. Plots consisted of 6 rows, 20 ft long with 36 inches between rows.
