Bt Trait Efficacy Against Corn Earworm, Helicoverpa zea, (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) for Preserving Grain Yield and Reducing Mycotoxin Contamination of Field Corn

open access: yesInsects
The corn earworm, Helicoverpa zea (Boddie), causes persistent ear damage to corn grown in the southeastern United States region. Increased levels of ear damage have been associated with mycotoxin contamination in addition to yield loss.

Modeling agricultural production risk and the adaptation to climate change [PDF]

open access: yes
A model that integrates biophysical simulations in an economic model is used to analyze the impact of climate change on crop production. The biophysical model simulates future plant-management-climate relationships and the economic model simulates ...

Near‐Infrared Organic Photovoltaic Electrodes for Subretinal Neurostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Organic photovoltaic electrodes based on the D18:Y6 blend enable precise and light‐controlled activation of retinal ganglion cells in a degenerating retina. NIR Light‐driven activation of retinal ganglion cells, tunable stimulation parameters, and biocompatibility with human retinal organoids highlight their potential for next‐generation prosthetics ...

Weeds Growth in Various Population of Sweet Corn+Peanut Intercropping

open access: yesPlanta Tropika: Jurnal Agrosains, 2018
The existence of weeds on sweet corn crops can lead to competition that reduce the yield. The aim of this research was to obtain the optimum crop proportion of corn-peanut plants in suppressing weed growth but not decrease the yield of sweet corn.

Corn Yield Effects in a Corn-Soybean Strip Cropping System

open access: yes, 2005
This project was designed to study the effects of planting corn and soybeans in 12-row strips as compared with planting corn as a single crop in a field. The reasoning behind planting corn and soybeans in strips is derived from the belief that corn plants will be better able to intercept light if more plants are exposed to an open edge like that found ...

A Vascular Microphysiological Model of Lung Fibrosis Reveals That Myofibroblasts and IPF Patient‐Derived Fibroblasts Impair Angiogenesis and Vasculogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A microphysiological lung fibrosis model recapitulates myofibroblast–vascular interactions. Induced myofibroblasts and patient‐derived IPF fibroblasts impair angiogenesis and increase vascular permeability via TGF‐β1–driven signaling. Pharmacological interventions with SB 431542 and VEGF supplementation restore vascular morphology and barrier function.

Effect of Nano Zinc and Iron Chelates Ratios on Yield and Yield Components of Grain Maize (Zea mays L.) in Intercropping with Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.)

open access: yesIkufīziyuluzhī-i Giyāhān-i Zirā̒ī
To investigate the effect of using nano-chelate zinc and iron ratios on yield and yield components of maize and cowpea seeds, a factorial experiment was conducted by using randomized completely block design with three replications in the south of Kerman,
