Background: Keratometry is essential for assessing corneal curvature, refractive power, and astigmatism. Advances in imaging, such as topography and tomography, have improved measurement accuracy for surgical planning and disease diagnosis. The Pentacam HR® uses Scheimpflug imaging for higher-order aberrations (HOAs), while iTrace® employs ray tracing ...

This paper presents a digital interferometric method to demodulate Placido fringe patterns. This method uses a computer-stored conic-wavefront as reference carrier. Even though, Placido mires are widely used in corneal topographers. This is not however a paper on corneal topography and/or its clinical use.

Abstract Background Aim is to analyze alterations in third and fourth corneal higher-order aberrations using a ray tracing aberrometer (iTrace) induced by SMILE (small incision lenticule extraction) refractive surgery on Algerian patients; and also to investigate how corneal aberrations vary with spherical equivalent (SE)

Effect of Hypoxia on Central and Peripheral Corneal Thickness and Corneal Topography [PDF]
Epithelial anoxia causes increases in both central and peripheral corneal thickness. The thickness increase is eliminated when the cornea is exposed to 2% oxygen.

Bevacizumab for the Treatment of Corneal Neovascularization
Corneal neovascularization (NV) is a severe complication associated with inflammatory or infectious disorders of the cornea. NV may lead to severe reduction in visual acuity and poor prognosis for corneal transplantation and excimer laser refractive ...

A survey of corneal curvature changes from corneal lens wear
The fact that variations in corneal curvature occur as a result os wearing PMMA contact lenses has been reported many times (1-8). The nature of these curvature changes and the factors influencing them are, however, still not well defined.
