Diurnal variation in corneal thickness

Experimental Eye Research, 1973
Abstract Corneal thickness was measured at three different times of day in rabbits. The rabbit cornea showed a significant diurnal variation regarding thickness. In most cases, the cornea was thickest in the forenoon, and then thinning followed. It usually became thinnest in the afternoon, but sometimes at about noon.

Corneal thickness measured by interferometry

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1975
An optical method for measuring the thickness of transparent structures has been developed, and has been used to measure, in vivo, the thickness of the human cornea. The thickness is measured by placing the anterior surface of the cornea at the focus of a beam of coherent laser light and then measuring the spacing between the interference fringes ...

Effect of Corneal Drying on Central Corneal Thickness

Journal of Glaucoma, 2004
To determine the amount of corneal thinning induced by corneal drying, and to discuss its possible consequences on applanation pressure. Two sets of central corneal thickness measurement from 100 eyes of 100 patients were taken by ultrasonic pachymeter at time settings of 0, 15, 30, 45, and 60 seconds. During the first set (group 1), patients were asked

Corneal thickness: measurement and implications

Experimental Eye Research, 2004
The thickness of the cornea was reported in more than 100-year-old textbooks on physiological optics (Helmholtz, Gullstrand). Physiological interest was revived in the 1950s by David Maurice, and over the next 50 years, this 'simple' biological parameter has been studied extensively.

Central Corneal Thickness

Cornea, 2007
To compare the repeatability and validity of corneal pachymetry by a corneal confocal microscope with a z-axis adapter (Confoscan 4.0 with z-ring adapter: z-CS4) versus ultrasound (US) pachymetry in the measurement of central corneal thickness (CCT).CCT in 44 eyes of 44 subjects was determined with z-CS4.

Corneal Thickness Change in Eyes Undergoing Corneal Cross-Linking

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2012
I READ WITH INTEREST THE RECENT WORK BY HOLOPAINEN and Krootila and would like to ask the authors to clarify some points about their study and offer comments on their findings. The authors stated in the Methods that the central corneal thickness was recorded. However, the documented results in the Results was the corneal thickness at the thinnest point.

IOP: Central Corneal Thickness

2009
Ever since the recognition that glaucoma was associated in many patients with a firm eye, ophthalmologists have been attempting to measure intraocular pressure (IOP) clinically. Prior to the introduction of Goldmann Applanation Tonometry (GAT) in the 1950s, tonometry techniques were inconvenient and unreliable.
