Following a severe chemical injury, persistent corneal melting presents as a threatening condition for loss of vision or the eyeball itself. Keratoplasty (both lamellar and penetrating) and amniotic membrane transplantation have been the usual modes of ...

In vivo imaging of human cornea with high-speed and high-resolution Fourier-domain full-field optical coherence tomography [PDF]
Corneal evaluation in ophthalmology necessitates cellular-resolution and fast imaging techniques allowing accurate diagnoses. Currently, the fastest volumetric imaging technique is Fourier-domain full-field optical coherence tomography (FD-FF-OCT) that uses a fast camera and a rapidly tunable laser source.

A narrative literature review about alpha‐lipoic acid role in dry eye and ocular surface disease
Abstract Ocular surface diseases (OSD) include various conditions that affect the eye's surface, causing discomfort and pain. One such condition, dry eye disease (DED), is a multifactorial disorder that significantly impacts patients' quality of life, with prevalence rates ranging from 5% to 50% and higher incidence in women.

Deep Sequential Feature Learning in Clinical Image Classification of Infectious Keratitis [PDF]
Infectious keratitis is the most common entities of corneal diseases, in which pathogen grows in the cornea leading to inflammation and destruction of the corneal tissues. Infectious keratitis is a medical emergency, for which a rapid and accurate diagnosis is needed for speedy initiation of prompt and precise treatment to halt the disease progress and

Learning to Segment Corneal Tissue Interfaces in OCT Images [PDF]
Accurate and repeatable delineation of corneal tissue interfaces is necessary for surgical planning during anterior segment interventions, such as Keratoplasty. Designing an approach to identify interfaces, which generalizes to datasets acquired from different Optical Coherence Tomographic (OCT) scanners, is paramount.

ABSTRACT Background In the last two decades, over 250 000 refugees and asylum seekers have arrived in Australia, many of whom experience significant health problems. Information about their eye health is scarce, particularly for those detained offshore. This is the first study to explore the eye health and services available to this population, helping

On fractional Bessel equation and the description of corneal topography [PDF]
In this note we apply a modified fractional Bessel differential equation to the problem of describing corneal topography. We find the solution in terms of the power series. This solution has an interesting behavior at infinity which is a generalization of the classical results for modified Bessel function of order 0.
