The Berkeley tunable far infrared laser spectrometers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A detailed description is presented for a tunable far infrared laser spectrometer based on frequency mixing of an optically pumped molecular gas laser with tunable microwave radiation in a Schottky point contact diode.

Fibered spherical 3-orbifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In early 1930s Seifert and Threlfall classified up to conjugacy the finite subgroups of $\mathrm{SO}(4)$, this gives an algebraic classification of orientable spherical 3-orbifolds. For the most part, spherical 3-orbifolds are Seifert fibered.

Electromagnetic Scattering Characteristics and Radar Identification of Sea Corner Reflectors: Advances and Prospects

open access: yesLeida xuebao, 2023
The radar seeker is the core equipment for the terminal guidance of precision-guided weapons. It has significant benefits, such as long range and weather resistance, and plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy of missile strikes.

Corner reflectors and Quantum-Non-Demolition Measurements in gravitational wave antennae

open access: yes, 2004
We propose Fabry-Perot cavity with corner reflectors instead of spherical mirrors to reduce the contribution of thermoelastic noise in the coating which is relatively large for spherical mirrors and which prevents the sensitivity better than Standard ...

Preliminary Evaluation of Geometric Positioning Accuracy of C-SAR Images Based on Automatic Corner Reflectors

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
C-SAR/01 and C-SAR/02 serve as successors to the GF-3 satellite. They are designed to operate in tandem with GF-3, collectively forming a C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation.

A Low Noise Receiver for Submillimeter Astronomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
A broadband, low noise heterodyne receiver, suitable for astronomical use, has been built using a Pb alloy superconducting tunnel junction (SIS). The RF coupling is quasioptical via a bowtie antenna on a quartz lens and is accomplished without any tuning

Variable beamwidth corner reflector antenna

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1998
A simple and successful design for a variable beamwidth corner reflector antenna is presented. The gain and the -3 dB beamwidth of the antenna are predicted using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The predicted results are compared with measured data and good agreement is reported.

A New Corner-Reflector Antenna With Tunable Gain Based on Active Frequency Selective Surfaces

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2020
A new corner-reflector antenna with a tunable gain based on active frequency selective surfaces (AFSSs) is presented. The proposed design comprises a dipole antenna as a source of the electromagnetic (EM) waves, and three reconfigurable AFSS layers of ...

Shock wave focusing using geometrical shock dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
A finite-difference numerical method for geometrical shock dynamics has been developed based on the analogy between the nonlinear ray equations and the supersonic potential equation.

Absorbing properties of metamaterial dihedral corner reflector

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
In this paper, the absorbing property of metal-cross shaped metamaterial dihedral (MCMD) and cross-cross shaped metamaterial dihedral (CCMD) with the same parameters are investigated. In TE mode, the absorptivities are 91.1% at 9.17 GHz for MCMD and 99.7%
