Relating magnetic reconnection to coronal heating

open access: yes, 2015
It is clear that the solar corona is being heated and that coronal magnetic fields undergo reconnection all the time. Here we attempt to show that these two facts are in fact related - i.e. coronal reconnection generates heat.

Prognostic Implications of Sleep Architecture for Patients Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit With Status Epilepticus

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Status epilepticus (SE) is associated with significant mortality. Sleep architecture may reflect normal brain function. Impaired sleep architecture is associated with poorer outcomes in numerous conditions. Here we investigate the association of sleep architecture in continuous EEG (cEEG) with survival in SE.

DEVELOPMENT OF A HYDRODYNAMIC MODEL OF A HYDROCYCLONE INCLUDING THE SIMULATION OF AIR-CORE EFFECT, USING THE FINITE VOLUME METHOD

open access: yesHolos, 2014
The hydrocyclone is one of the most used classification equipment in industry, particularly in mineral processing. Maybe its main characteristic is to be a hydrodynamic separation equipment, whereby it has a high production capability and different ...

Toujours les Mêmes Boucs Émissaires ? La Lutte contre la Pandémie et la Sécuritisation de l'Éducation Coranique dans le Nord du Nigéria

open access: yesJournal on Education in Emergencies, 2022
Si l'on peine encore à avoir une vision complète des conséquences de la pandémie de COVID-19 sur le système scolaire formel, on en sait encore moins quant à son impact sur les systèmes d'éducation non formels, et notamment sur les institutions d ...

The Emission from Inner Disk and Corona in the Low and Intermediate Spectral States of Black Hole X-ray Binaries

open access: yes, 2011
Recent observations reveal that a cool disk may survive in the innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) for some black hole X-ray binaries in the canonical low/hard state.

Diffusion Spectrum Imaging Maps Early Axonal Loss and a Unique Progressive Signal in Neuronal Intranuclear Inclusion Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To delineate specific in vivo white matter pathology in neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) using diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI) and define its clinical relevance. Methods DSI was performed on 42 NIID patients and 38 matched controls.

Geospatial analysis of immunisation outcomes in Nigeria using a Bayesian geostatistical approach and an interactive dashboard

open access: yesDiscover Public Health
Background Nigeria’s significant contribution to the global pool of zero-dose children persists despite ongoing immunisation investments. This coverage deficits in Kano and Lagos states serve as stark indicators of underlying structural and socio ...

Blackberry Fruit Classification in Underexposed Images Combining Deep Learning and Image Fusion Methods

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Berry production is increasing worldwide each year; however, high production leads to labor shortages and an increase in wasted fruit during harvest seasons.

Tests of Dynamical Flux Emergence as a Mechanism for CME Initiation

open access: yes, 2010
Current coronal mass ejection (CME) models set their lower boundary to be in the lower corona. They do not calculate accurately the transfer of free magnetic energy from the convection zone to the magnetically dominated corona because they model the ...

CX3CL1 in Early Detection of Alzheimer's Disease: Plasma Dynamics Across Age and Disease Stages

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Backgrounds Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by amyloid‐beta plaques, tau tangles, and neuroinflammation. C‐X3‐C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CX3CL1, also known as fractalkine), a neuroimmune chemokine implicated in AD pathogenesis, shows inconsistent alterations in plasma/serum across studies.
