Lifestyle modification in atrial fibrillation: Mechanisms, phenotypes and ablation outcomes

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent sustained cardiac arrhythmia and is associated with significant morbidity, mortality and healthcare utilization. Catheter ablation is increasingly used as a rhythm‐control intervention for patients with symptomatic paroxysmal and persistent AF, yet recurrence rates remain suboptimal.

Lung Pericytes: Molecular Mechanisms, Signaling Pathways, and Roles in Pulmonary Diseases

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 4, August 2026.
Central role of pericytes across major pulmonary diseases. Conceptual wheel diagram illustrating the central role of lung pericytes across diverse pulmonary disease states. A pericyte positioned at the center expresses canonical markers, including PDGFRβ, CD146, and NG2, and connects radially to five major disease contexts.

Coronavirus disease 2019 infection reduces EGFR‐TKI efficacy in non‐small cell lung carcinoma: Real‐world evidence from a multicenter propensity‐matched cohort

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 3, Page 699-708, 1 August 2026.
What's New? Lung cancer patients with COVID‐19 experience significantly increased risk for severe illness and mortality. However, research addressing the effect of COVID‐19 on non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)‐tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) remains unknown.

Development and Validation of an XGBoost‐SHAP Model for Predicting Adverse Outcomes in Elderly Cardiovascular Patients With Polypharmacy: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 14, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This study aims to develop and validate an interpretable machine learning model using Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) with SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) analysis to predict adverse outcomes in elderly cardiovascular patients with polypharmacy. This retrospective cohort study included 1200 patients aged ≥ 65 years with cardiovascular
