Coronary arterial rupture during coronary angioplasty
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1983Although percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) appears to be a relative safe and effective procedure, reported complications include coronary occlusion and dissection with or without acute myocardial infarction. Herein, a hitherto unreported complication of PTCA is described.

Coronary Sinus Stenosis With Right Coronary Artery to Coronary Sinus Fistula
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2019Coronary artery fistula is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly. We report a 34-year-old woman who presented with a recurrent large pericardial effusion during pregnancy. She was found to have a right coronary artery to coronary sinus fistula. The coronary sinus was severely dilated due to coronary sinus ostial stenosis.

Coronary thrombosis without coronary atherosclerosis
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1969Abstract The case of a patient with extensive coronary artery thrombosis, with myocardial infarction but without coronary atherosclerosis, is presented. Although a review of the literature was not helpful in locating similar reports, the findings were thought to represent an exaggerated example of the process that ordinarily leads to myocardial ...

Although patients with immune system dysfunction leading to MI may be a small subpopulation, they present an interesting challenge. Early recognition of their condition and prompt anti-inflammatory therapy, along with modification of cardiac rehabilitation and teaching protocols, will promote favorable long-term outcomes.

Coronary angiography (CA) is presently considered the gold standard for the assessment of the coronary arteries. However, the presence of ionizing radiation, its invasiveness and the small associated risk of morbidity prompted long ago the development of more patient-friendly imaging modalities.

Atherosclerotic plaque rupture is a key event in the pathogenesis of acute coronary syndromes and during coronary interventions. Atherosclerotic plaque rupture does not always result in complete thrombotic occlusion of the entire epicardial coronary artery with subsequent acute myocardial infarction; however, in milder forms it may result in the ...

Physiological Reviews, 1983
The major areas of normal coronary physiological research since Berne's 1964 review have been the measurement of ventricular transmural blood flow distribution with microspheres, the adenosine hypothesis of local metabolic control of coronary blood flow, and the autonomic control of coronary blood flow.
