BACKGROUND Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is a reliable tool for the functional assessment of coronary stenoses. FFR computed tomography (CT) derived (FFRCT) has shown to be accurate, but its clinical usefulness in patients with complex coronary artery ...

History of Coronary Angiography [PDF]
Diagnostic cardiac catheterization is recommended whenever it is clinically important to define the presence of cardiac disease that cannot be evaluated adequately by noninvasive techniques. Because the risk of a major complication from cardiac catheterization is less than 1% with mortality of less than 0.08%, many doctors can perform the ...

Computed Tomography of the Coronary Arteries
MSCT Coronary Angiography is a fast developing non-invasive diagnostic technique that can detect a coronary stenosis. The detection of a coronary stenosis is hampered by limited image quality and by motion artefacts and extensive calcifications ...

Complementary CT Coronary Angiography after Negative Selective Coronary Angiography
A 53-year-old male was admitted for typical acute chest pain. The ECG showed a mirror image of posterior myocardial ischemia. Initial biology was normal but cardiac markers (creatine kinase and troponin) rose later. Echocardiography did not reveal any hypokinetic myocardial segment. There was no left ventricular dysfunction or valvular disease.

Background: Elevated high-sensitive cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) can be found in more than 50% of the patients with acute ischemic stroke. The observational TRoponin ELevation in Acute ischemic Stroke (TRELAS) study revealed that about 25% of all stroke ...

Aims High-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) assays provide higher diagnostic accuracy for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) when compared with conventional assays, but may result in increased use of unnecessary coronary angiographies due to their ...
