Coronary arteries in Yemenites
Journal of Atherosclerosis Research, 1967Summary The histological changes occurring in the coronary arteries of Yemenite fetuses and infants up to the age of one year have been described. Qualitative and quantitative studies were performed and the results compared with the findings reported in non-Yemenite subjects.

SUMMARY In a series of 750 coronary cinearteriograms, coronary spasm was observed in only seven individuals. At the time of the cinearteriogram, three experienced an attack of chest pain that had all the features of coronary insufficiency before the spasm was relieved by nitroglycerin.

In the setting of an acute inferior myocardial infarction undergoing primary stent implantation, we could document a macroscopic embolus moving along the right coronary artery. Coronary embolisation is a well known drawback of percutaneous coronary interventions and dedicated devices can be used in order to minimize myocardial damage.

A 38-year-old man with a history of cocaine abuse had an evaluation for chest pain. Myocardial infarction was ruled out, and he underwent an exercise thallium myocardial perfusion SPECT study that suggested myocardial ischemia in the left anterior descending (LAD) artery territory.

Perfusion of the coronary arteries with oxygenated blood during cardiopulmonary bypass should in theory offer perfect myocardial protection, but the difficulties sometimes encountered with direct cannulation and the hazards of prolonged fibrillation in spite of perfusion raise questions regarding its universal efficacy.

Summary Coronary artery fistula is an uncommon cardiac anomaly. One-hundred and seventy-two cases without either aortic or pulmonary valve atresia have been documented in the literature by 1969. In this paper, four further cases as seen in Singapore are described.

Coronary artery fistulae (CAF) are rare congenital or acquired in which a connection forms between one of the coronary arteries and a heart chamber or with other vessels. This paper describes three cases of CAF along with their initial presentation, imaging findings and management.

Rarely has an etiologic concept bounced back so vigorously as that of coronary artery spasm. Only recently dismissed as a nonexistent entity—let alone as the cause of angina—it is now being implicated with increasing frequency in some cases, possibly types, of the anginal syndrome.
