Radial-Artery Grafts for Coronary-Artery Bypass Surgery
New England Journal of Medicine, 2018Gaudino et al. (2018 May 31 issue of NEJM) report a lower risk of the composite of death, myocardial infarction, or repeat revascularization with radial-artery graft than with saphenous-vein graft revascularization during coronary-artery bypass grafting (CABG).

Coronary Artery Bypass in Dialysis Patients
Artificial Organs, 2001Abstract: This study evaluated the operative outcome of dialysis patients undergoing coronary artery bypass (CAB). In the past 6 years, 38 dialysis patients with a mean age of 57.5 years underwent CAB. Thirty‐one operations were elective, and 7 were nonelective operations.

Current Opinion in Cardiology, 2005
Coronary revascularization has become the principal treatment modality in patients with severe coronary artery disease. The broader application of percutaneous coronary interventions in patients with multivessel disease and the recent introduction of drug-eluting stents have both lead to a decline in the number of patients referred for surgical ...

Coronary artery bypass graft surgery
2015The surgical management of acute coronary syndrome still remains a challenge for the cardiac surgeon. Although most patients can be managed by percutaneous coronary intervention, for patients with complex multivessel or left main coronary artery disease (high SYNTAX score), in whom percutaneous coronary intervention is not possible or is unsuccessful ...

Abstract Surgical coronary revascularization is state-of-the-art therapy for cardiac ischemia. Even with scientific and procedural developments that narrow the gap between surgical and percutaneous revascularization strategies, surgical revascularization continues to demonstrate superior durability and greater long-term cost ...

Coronary Artery Bypass Graft for Anomalous Right Coronary Artery
Journal of Cardiac Surgery, 2010A 27-year-old man with anomalous right coronary artery (RCA) presented with ventricular fibrillatory arrest. Computed tomography angiography revealed an anomalous RCA arising from the left sinus of Valsalva with an acute angulation at the coronary takeoff and compressed interarterial segment.

This chapter provides practical information for optimizing scanning of coronary artery bypass grafts and reading the images. Reading the images is best done on axial and multiplanar reformations and should include the evaluation of graft anastomoses and run-offs as well as the native vessels. The thoracic aorta and cardiac function should be considered

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Cardiac tissue, or heart muscle, relies on blood supply from coronary arteries for oxygen and nutrient delivery. When the coronary arteries are narrowed, or blocked, restoration of blood flow is essential for preservation of heart tissue and avoidance of myocardial ...

Coronary Artery Disease and Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
1988It had a dramatic onset—a sinking sensation in my epigastrium that seemed to have ominous portent. The setting, too, was disturbing, if exotic: a hotel room overlooking the Indian Ocean in Mombasa, a resort city in Tanzania. An hour earlier, I had won my first set ever from Bill, had cooled off in the ocean, and had gone to my room exhausted but ...
