Aortic valve replacement via a right parasternal approach in a patient with a history of coronary artery bypass surgery and pericardiectomy: a case report

open access: yesSurgical Case Reports, 2019
Background The number of patients who require aortic valve replacement after coronary artery bypass grafting continues to increase. Re-operative cardiovascular surgery after coronary artery bypass grafting has various risk factors related to median re ...

Radial Artery as a Graft for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

open access: yesCirculation Journal, 2009
The radial artery (RA) graft was revived in late 1980 s when it was found that the graft was patent 13-18 years after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) after improvement of the technique in harvesting and the use of calcium-channel blockers. Recently, the RA became a reasonable alternative to the saphenous vein (SV) graft with the trend toward ...

Six-minute walk distance after coronary artery bypass grafting compared with medical therapy in ischaemic cardiomyopathy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: In patients with ischaemic left ventricular dysfunction, coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) may decrease mortality, but it is not known whether CABG improves functional capacity.

Raman Microscopy at the Organic–Inorganic Interfaces in Human Calcified Aortic Valves Shows the Co‐Existence of Whitlockite Crystals and Carbonated Hydroxyapatite‐Mineralized Collagen Fibrils

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study advances our understanding of aortic valve stenosis by capturing spatially resolved chemical and structural changes at the nanoscale. The findings highlight the potential of combined Raman and electron microscopy for understanding calcification mechanisms across diverse tissue types.

Coronary artery bypass grafting in the octogenarian

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1991
We have performed coronary bypass grafting in 25 patients 80 years of age or more. The patients' preoperative conditions were characterized by recent myocardial infarction (16/25, or 64%), obesity (15/25, or 60%), hypertension (14/25, or 56%), and left ventricular dysfunction (21/25, or 84%).

Spasm in Arterial Grafts in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery [PDF]

open access: yesThe Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2016
Spasm of arterial grafts in coronary artery bypass grafting surgery is still a clinical problem, and refractory spasm can occasionally be lethal. Perioperative spasm in bypass grafts and coronary arteries has been reported in 0.43% of all coronary artery bypass grafting surgery, but this may be an underestimate.

Atrial fibrillation and minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting: Risk factor analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a frequent arrhythmia after conventional coronary artery bypass grafting. With the advent of minimally invasive technique for left internal mammary artery-left anterior descending coronary artery (LIMA-LAD) grafting, we ...

Levosimendan for patients with severely reduced left ventricular systolic function and/or low cardiac output syndrome undergoing cardiac surgery. a systematic review and meta-analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Previous studies have shown beneficial effects of levosimendan in high-risk patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Two large randomized controlled trials (RCTs), however, showed no advantages of levosimendan.
