Selection of the transplant for myocardial revascularization

open access: yesВестник хирургии имени И.И. Грекова, 2018
Surgical treatment of coronary heart disease was introduced into clinical practice more than 50 years ago. Only one intervention – the use of left internal thoracic artery for bypass grafting of the anterior interventricular artery – Kolovos’s operation–

Predicting 1‐year heart failure hospitalization and mortality post‐discharge from the intensive cardiac care unit

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Despite the high risk of rehospitalization for heart failure (HF) and death among patients admitted to the intensive cardiac care unit (ICCU), no accurate prediction score for these outcomes exists. We aimed to develop a risk score to predict unplanned HF hospitalization and death 1‐year post‐discharge in an unselected cohort of patients ...

Coronary artery bypass grafting in the octogenarian

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1991
We have performed coronary bypass grafting in 25 patients 80 years of age or more. The patients' preoperative conditions were characterized by recent myocardial infarction (16/25, or 64%), obesity (15/25, or 60%), hypertension (14/25, or 56%), and left ventricular dysfunction (21/25, or 84%).

Association of BMI with adherence and outcome in heart failure patients treated with wearable cardioverter defibrillator

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1295-1303, April 2025.
Abstract Background Obesity is a known risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD), yet an ‘obesity paradox’ has been observed in various CVD contexts. The impact of obesity on heart failure (HF) patients treated with a wearable cardioverter‐defibrillator (WCD) remains underexplored.

Cardiogenic shock mortality according to Aetiology in a Mediterranean cohort: Results from the Shock‐CAT study

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1336-1345, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Mortality in cardiogenic shock (CS) remains elevated, with the potential for CS causes to impact prognosis and risk stratification. The aim was to investigate in‐hospital prognosis and mortality in CS patients according to aetiology. We also assessed the prognostic accuracy of CardShock and IABP‐SHOCK II scores.

Coronary atheroma [14 cm] extracted from the right coronary artery during off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting

open access: yesBangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Journal, 2017
Coronary endarterectomy is a good option for surgical revascularization in diffusely coronary artery disease. In coronary artery bypass surgery, a diffusely diseased right coronary artery is an obstruction to accomplishing complete myocardial ...

Impact of immigration on outcomes following acute decompensated heart failure: A retrospective cohort study

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims The study aims to investigate the impact of immigration status on short‐ and long‐term outcomes in patients hospitalized with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). Methods We conducted a retrospective cohort study at a single centre, analysing 7457 patients admitted for ADHF between 2007 and 2017, with follow‐up until 2020 (mean 3.7 ±

Coronary artery bypass grafting and concomitant excision of chest wall chondrosarcoma

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2009
Coexistence of coronary artery disease and cancer with both requiring surgical treatment at the same time is rare. A 52 year male undergoing elective coronary artery bypass grafting was incidentally discovered to have a large soft tissue mass of variable
