Morphological importance of coronary ostia in equine

Anatomia, Histologia, Embryologia, 2022
AbstractThe position of the coronary ostia was investigated in 70 segments of the aorta from young adult crossbred horses. After fixation with a 4% buffered aqueous formaldehyde solution and cautious dissection of the aortic bulb, the morphometric relationships between the coronary ostium and the aortic valvar elements were digitally analysed with the ...

The positions of coronary arterial ostia

Clinical Anatomy, 1996
The positions of the coronary arterial ostia were examined in the cadavers of 38 adults. All the ostia were related to the aorta and none to the pulmonary artery. The aortic valves in 37 specimens were normal and possessed three cusps, while one was bicuspid.

Morphological importance of coronary ostia in sheep and swine

Anatomia, Histologia, Embryologia, 2022
AbstractThe aortic valve was investigated in 58 sheep and 60 swine without heart disease. After fixation in 4% formalin, the distance between the ostia and the elements of the right/left aortic sinuses was measured. For the left coronary ostium (LCO), it was found that in sheep 81% were below and 19% at the level of intercomissural line (IL).

Direct cannulation of the coronary ostia

Multimedia Manual of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2005
Direct cannulation of the coronary ostia is a technique used by many surgeons in aortic valve surgery, especially when the valve is incompetent. It is safe and feasible, but the small risk of it causing a potentially devastating ostial stenosis must be kept in mind.

Morphology of Coronary Ostia in Domestic Shorthair Cat

Anatomia, Histologia, Embryologia, 2015
SummaryDiagnosis and treatment of heart diseases due to changes in the coronary vascularization need a detailed knowledge on the morphology and possible variations of the aortic valves and coronary ostia. This study was performed to clarify details on morphology of these structures in domestic cats.

Sinus of valsalva aneurysms involving both coronary ostia

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Diagnosis, 1993
AbstractSinus of Valsalva aneurysms are a rare cause of angina or myocardial infarction. We describe a patient with unstable angina and massive unruptured aneurysms of both coronary sinuses causing severe distortion of both coronary ostia, to our knowledge not previously reported.

Congenital absence of coronary ostia in a single/common coronary system

Cardiology in the Young, 2019
AbstractCoronary ostial atresia seen with pulmonary atresia and coronary-cameral fistulae or, more rarely, in isolation manifested as left main coronary artery atresia, is well described. We describe the clinical course and post-mortem findings in a neonate who suffered a fatal cardiac arrest and was found to have congenital absence of both coronary ...

A Study of Variations in Coronary Ostia

Journal of Anatomical Society of India, 2012
Abstract Introduction: The year 1928 saw the first human coronary angiograph when Werner Forssmann inserted a ureteral catheter into his left anticubital vein and advanced it to the heart. Today coronary angiographies and selective coronary angiographies are being done quite frequently.

Imaging of Coronary Grafts Without Catheterization of Coronary Ostia

1984
Selective angiography of the coronary arteries is the standard method of visualizing radiologically not only the heart vessels, but also bypass grafts. The invasive nature of this procedure, however, limits its application [1, 2].
