A workflow for 3D printing highly accurate, customized human skull models for anatomical education and clinical practice

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Our custom workflow creates anatomically accurate and diverse 3D skull models. Precise sex‐specific anatomical detail is ensured by CT‐based segmentation. Our models capture anatomical variations and pathologies. Our cost‐effective 3D printing workflow enhances model durability and fidelity.

What Is the Pterygomandibular Raphe? A Confluence of Fasciae Rather Than a Discrete Structure

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The pterygomandibular raphe (PMR) has traditionally been described as a fibrous or tendinous band connecting the bucinator (BM) and superior pharyngeal constrictor (SPCM) muscles. However, recent evidence has questioned its existence. This study aimed to reevaluate the anatomy of the pterygomandibular region by preserving fascial continuity ...

Bilateral hyperplasia of the coronoid processes: Clinical report

open access: yes, 2005
Monolateral or bilateral hyperplasia of the coronoid processes of the mandible is a rare disorder resulting in reduction of mouth opening because of the unnatural contact of the coronoid process with the zygomatic bones. The authors describe two cases of

Dental development in the tropical gar (Atractosteus tropicus) and the evolution of vertebrate dentitions

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Dentitions have diversified enormously during vertebrate evolution, involving reductions, modifications, or allocations to prey seizing and processing regions. A combination of ancient and novel features related to dental and oropharyngeal apparatuses is found in extant lineages of non‐teleost fishes, such as the gars.

Coronoid systems with fixed bonds

open access: yes, 1997
A structure feature of the molecules of coronoid hydrocarbons is studied for a coronoid system-the natural graph representation of the skeletons of molecules of coronoid hydrocarbons.

Orthodentine‐osteodentine and osteocytic‐anosteocytic transition inferred from Silurian stem chondrichthyan dermal jawbones with ever‐white teeth overgrown by brown denticles

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The dentigerous jawbones of a 423‐million‐year‐old stem chondrichthyan (ischnacanthid acanthodian) carry a characteristic combination of multi‐row non‐shedding white teeth with brownish overgrowing denticles. The color distinction makes it a good model for observing the interaction between two odontode lineages, but the nature of ...

Validation of Virtual Reality Simulations for Anatomical Landmarks in Panoramic Radiographs

open access: yesJournal of Dental Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study assessed the validity of panoramic anatomical virtual reality (VR) software among senior dental students. Materials and Methods A total of 79 fourth‐year dental students were randomly divided into two groups in this crossover study. Students’ knowledge of panoramic anatomical landmarks was tested.

A Possible Case of Temporomandibular Joint Dislocation, Trepanation, and Metabolic Bone Disease in a Young Adolescent From North‐Central Myanmar (1000–700 bce)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Osteoarchaeology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This osteobiography explores the life history of an adolescent who lived during the early‐mid Bronze Age (c. 1000–700 bce) and was buried at Nyaung'gan, a site in north‐central Myanmar. Burial 3b had multiple skeletal lesions, and their bones were covered in well‐remodeled subperiosteal new bone.
