Cash holdings and corporate diversification
2012This study documents a strong connection between corporate cash holdings and organization form, and explores why such a relation exists. The Market for Corporate Control and Corporate Cash Holdings
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2000Conventional wisdom asserts that firms with large cash holdings are likely takeover targets. Using hostile takeover activity from 1985-1994, I find the probability a firm will be acquired decreases with cash. This holds for firms with excess cash as well as those with poor investment opportunities.

Corporate Cash Holdings and Corporate Governance Mechanisms
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2003This paper examines the relationship between corporate cash holdings and corporate governance mechanisms. We document that board size and non-management blockholder ownership are significantly related to the ratio of cash to net assets for a sample of publicly listed firms in Singapore.
