Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Two-loop Correction to the Leptonic Decay of Quarkonium [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Applying asymptotic expansions at threshold, we compute the two-loop QCD correction to the short-distance coefficient that governs the leptonic decay $\psi\to l^+ l^-$ of a S-wave quarkonium state and discuss its impact on the relation between the ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Changes in Building Tax Legislation in Romania over the Past Twenty Years [PDF]

open access: yesOvidius University Annals: Economic Sciences Series
Over the last twenty years, the Romanian legislative framework governing building taxes for both individuals and legal entities has been amended on four separate occasions. Each change introduced a new element, such as updates to the taxable amount per

Failure of Gauge Invariance in the Nonperturbative Formulation of Massless Lorentz-Violating QED

open access: yes, 2004
We consider a Lorentz-violating modification to the fermionic Lagrangian of QED that is known to produce a finite Chern-Simons term at leading order. We compute the second order correction to the one-loop photon self-energy in the massless case using an ...

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...
