Therapy effectiveness in a correctional institution

The effectiveness of group psychotherapy was measured by comparing ihe institutional behavior of 46 experirnental subjects and 46 controls. The experimental group consisted of inmates at a maximum security, adult institution who were randomly chosen from the subject pool, and who were then offered the opportunity to participate in group therapy.

LESBIANISM IN FEMALE AND COED CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Questionnaire responses from 13- to 17-year-old girls in four all-female and three coed institutions were used to determine rates and causes of institutional homosexuality. Rates were as high in coed as in single-sexed institutions. The overall rates of homosexuality for all seven institutions were 14% for "going with or being married" to another girl,

Correctional programs may be viewed as providing treatment or as providing services. These views are based upon various theories of criminal behavior, and influence the approaches and activities to be used within the programs.
