Response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in early breast cancers is associated with epithelial–mesenchymal transition and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are associated with early breast cancer response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). This study evaluated EMT and TIL shifts, with immunofluorescence and RNA sequencing, at diagnosis and in residual tumors as potential biomarkers associated with treatment response.

Mentoring Women in Corrections: Encouraging the Next Corrections Executive

open access: yesSocial Sciences
Mentoring can positively influence the mentee, the mentor, and the organization in which both are employed. Mentoring can help employees to overcome workplace challenges, including barriers to advancement, while increasing job satisfaction, enhancing ...

Music Therapy in US Corrections

open access: yesVoices, 2022
Although the United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world and music therapy has existed in U.S. correctional facilities for almost a century, little is known about music therapists who provide services to people who are incarcerated ...

Large-N Baryons, Chiral Loops, and the Emergence of the Constituent Quark

open access: yes, 1995
Meson loop corrections to baryon axial currents are computed in the 1/N expansion. It is already known that the one-loop corrections are suppressed by a factor 1/N; here it is shown that the two-loop corrections are suppressed by (1/N)^2.

QED and Electroweak Corrections to Deep Inelastic Scattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We describe the state of the art in the field of radiative corrections for deep inelastic scattering. Different methods of calculation of radiative corrections are reviewed.

Stochastic variation in the FOXM1 transcription program mediates replication stress tolerance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cellular heterogeneity is a major cause of drug resistance in cancer. Segeren et al. used single‐cell transcriptomics to investigate gene expression events that correlate with sensitivity to the DNA‐damaging drugs gemcitabine and prexasertib. They show that dampened expression of transcription factor FOXM1 and its target genes protected cells against ...

Correcting Icelandic Manuscripts in the Second Half of the Fourteenth Century

open access: yesScripta Islandica
Writing is a task prone to errors and mistakes. While modern devices allow for invisible corrections, medieval scribes often had to use methods that would remain visible to a manuscript’s future users.

Electrostatics-based finite-size corrections for first-principles point defect calculations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Finite-size corrections for charged defect supercell calculations typically consist of image-charge and potential alignment corrections. A wide variety of schemes for both corrections have been proposed for decades. Regarding the image-charge correction,

RacoonWW1.3: A Monte Carlo program for four-fermion production at e^+ e^- colliders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We present the Monte Carlo generator RacoonWW that computes cross sections to all processes e^+ e^- -> 4f and e^+ e^- -> 4f + gamma and calculates the complete O(alpha) electroweak radiative corrections to e^+ e^- -> W W -> 4f in the electroweak Standard
