UDP‐glucuronic acid 4‐epimerase (UGAepi) catalyzes NAD+‐dependent interconversion of UDP‐glucuronic acid (UDP‐GlcA) and UDP‐galacturonic acid (UDP‐GalA) via C4‐oxidation, 4‐keto‐intermediate rotation, and C4‐reduction. Here, Borg et al. examined the role of the substrate's carboxylate group in the enzymic mechanism by analyzing NADH‐dependent reduction

Trauma, mental illnesses, and substance use disorders (SUD) are well-documented contributors leading to women’s incarceration; however, less is known about how these factors also influence women’s pathways through prison once incarcerated.

On gravitational and thermal corrections to vacuum decay [PDF]
A bstractWe reconsider gravitational corrections to vacuum decay, confirming and simplifying earlier results and extending them allowing for a non-minimal coupling of the Higgs to gravity, finding that leading-order gravitational corrections suppress the

Electroweak radiative corrections to e+e- --> WW --> 4fermions in double-pole approximation -- the RACOONWW approach [PDF]
We calculate the complete O(alpha) electroweak radiative corrections to e+e- --> WW --> 4f in the electroweak Standard Model in the double-pole approximation.

Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

Creating a Penal System in the Republic of Latvia, 1919–1921
The government of the Republic of Latvia began creating a penal system as soon as it took control of the territory it claimed. According to the international understanding, imprisonment was not only seen as the isolation of a person, but also included ...

Introduction Correctional populations with opioid use disorder experience increased health risks during community transition periods. Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) can reduce these risks, but retention is a key challenge.

Leading log radiative corrections to deep inelastic production of heavy quarks [PDF]
O(\alpha) QED radiative corrections to neutral current deep inelastic production of heavy quarks are calculated in the leading log approximation and compared with the corresponding corrections assuming a massless charm parton. Besides the inclusive case, corrections to the semi-inclusive d^3\sigma/dx dy dz and the effect of z-cuts are studied.
