Characteristics of argumentation in general which impact legal argumentation

open access: yesInciso, 2016
In this article it is claimed that legal argumentation should part from principles contained in argumentation in general. Therefore, it should be adapted to argumentative criterions which take into account the logic component (as a product), rhetoric (as

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

A Comparative Study of the World of Forms and Exemplars in the Thought of Suhrawardi and the Realm of Language in the Thought of Martin Heidegger [PDF]

open access: yesحکمت معاصر
Problem: The World of Forms and Images (ʿālam al-muthul wa al-mithāl) has been a significant topic since the inception of philosophical history. Some argue that neglecting the intermediary world (ʿālam-e mīyāna) has led to a crisis in Western thought ...

Association Between Individualized Education for Kidney Replacement Therapy Modality Selection and Peritoneal Dialysis Initiation: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Flux Distribution of Gamma-Ray Emission in Blazars: The Example of Mrk 501

open access: yesGalaxies, 2018
Flux distribution is an important tool to understand the variability processes in active galactic nuclei. We now have available a great deal of observational evidences pointing towards the presence of log-normal components in the high energy light curves,

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Experimental and numerical evaluation of resilience and toughness in AISI 1015 steel welded plates

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería Universidad de Antioquia, 2019
The mechanical characterization of the engineering materials is always a topic of interest to engineers and researchers. The objective of this work is to study the butt welded joint resilience and toughness by means of the tensile test and the numerical
