Corrosion and Corrosion Resistance

2021
The chapter starts with a brief introduction about corrosion, which is defined as the interdependency between a metal, a corrosive environment, and the respective component design. The second section introduces the most important forms of aqueous electrochemical corrosion (uniform corrosion, galvanic corrosion, selective and intergranular corrosion ...

Microbial corrosion of metals: The corrosion microbiome

2021
Microbially catalyzed corrosion of metals is a substantial economic concern. Aerobic microbes primarily enhance Fe0 oxidation through indirect mechanisms and their impact appears to be limited compared to anaerobic microbes. Several anaerobic mechanisms are known to accelerate Fe0 oxidation.

Corrosive gastritis

The American Journal of Surgery, 1977
Cases of corrosive gastritis are relatively few in the literature. Fifteen patients with combined corrosive esophagogastritis are reported on herein. In the acute stage (with severe degree of esophagogastritis) feeding jejunostomy was recommended, whereas in the chronic stage (with gastric obstruction) posterior gastrojejunostomy was performed for all ...

Corrosion and corrosivity monitoring system

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
Honeywell International has developed and flight-tested a Corrosion and Corrosivity Monitoring System (C2MS). The C2MS detects galvanic corrosion in the main gearbox feet fasteners of helicopters. In addition, it monitors the environmental conditions inside the main floorboard compartment to determine the need for structural maintenance.

Fundamentals of Corrosion and Corrosion Inhibition

2022
Corrosion is a highly challenging and damaging phenomenon that causes the loss of metallic structures via chemical and electrochemical reactions with the constituents of their surroundings. In view of extremely high safety and economic losses, corrosion and corrosion prevention have attracted significant attention.
