Graphene: Corrosion-Inhibiting Coating

ACS Nano, 2012
We report the use of atomically thin layers of graphene as a protective coating that inhibits corrosion of underlying metals. Here, we employ electrochemical methods to study the corrosion inhibition of copper and nickel by either growing graphene on these metals, or by mechanically transferring multilayer graphene onto them.

Green Corrosion Inhibition

2022
Corrosion affects every industry in which metal is involved, from manufacturing machinery to transport pipelines, and it is estimated to cost the global economy trillions of dollars per year. Many of the traditional methods for inhibiting corrosion are highly toxic (such as hexavalent chromium) or do not degrade readily in the environment (such as ...

CORROSION-INHIBITIVE PAINTS

Metallurgical Reviews, 1964
AbstractEveryone is aware of “the punishment of rust” and figures running into hundreds of millions of pounds1-4 have been quoted for its material effect on the budgets of many countries. These have left aside the losses, plain to the eye but not subject to assessment in pounds, shillings, and pence, which are mainly aesthetic, for certainly rusting ...

Fundamentals of Corrosion and Corrosion Inhibition

2022
Corrosion is a highly challenging and damaging phenomenon that causes the loss of metallic structures via chemical and electrochemical reactions with the constituents of their surroundings. In view of extremely high safety and economic losses, corrosion and corrosion prevention have attracted significant attention.

Corrosion Inhibiting Rubber Seals

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1977
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A new oil seal rubber compound has been developed with considerably improved GMRP corrosion rating. This was achieved by compounding the basic Hycar 1042 elastomer with compatible corrosion inhibitor, capable of inhibiting the corrosion process on rubber-metal interface. The inhibitor was compounded at 5% by weight

Inhibiting metal corrosion

Metal Finishing, 2008
Summary Corrosion may be costly or catastrophic, but it should not be a necessary evil. Cost savings can be obtained by reducing part rejects through use of inhibition practices. Elimination or control of the corrosion process will prevent part failure that otherwise could have catastrophic effects.

Corrosion Inhibition for Severely Corrosive Gas Wells

Corrosion, 1990
The production of the Mississippi deep sour gas presented severe corrosion problems. This paper outlines the techniques used to solve these problems with a successful continuous inhibition system and the application of this technology to a wide variety of severely corrosive productions.

Synergism in corrosion inhibition

Surface Technology, 1979
Abstract The synergism observed with two commercial corrosion inhibitors has been investigated using the faradaic impedance technique. The data show that the efficiency of single inhibiting compounds can be significantly lower than that of simple mixtures, and that the ratios employed are critical.
