Mg Corrosion—Recent Progress

open access: yesCorrosion and Materials Degradation, 2022
Recent progress is reviewed. Recent developments include: (i) accumulation of evidence that electrochemical measurements of the Mg corrosion rate often do not agree with the steady state Mg corrosion rate as measured by weight loss; (ii) low Fe tolerance

Influence of supercritical, liquid, and gaseous CO2 on fracture behavior in sandstone

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2020
Storing CO2 in geological formations can reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. In order to explore the fracture behavior of caprock during CO2 geological storage, three caprock adsorption experiments for supercritical, liquid, and ...

Insight into Structural Changes and Electrochemical Properties of Spark Plasma Sintered Nanostructured Ferritic and Austenitic Stainless Steels

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
Nanostructured ferritic (Fe(82−x)-Cr18-Six, x = 0–3 wt %) and austenitic (Fe(73−x)-Cr18-Ni9-Six, x = 0–3 wt %) stainless steel (SS) alloys were developed by mechanical alloying (MA) and spark plasma sintering (SPS). The unit cell parameter estimated from

Species of corrosive microbes and corrosion mechanisms

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2023
Corrosion is a global problem affecting a wide variety of the mechanical structures of piping, buildings, transportation, sewage, and automotive parts. Corrosion is an abiotic electrochemical reaction of metal oxidation with oxygen and water. Under anoxic conditions, the only reactant available for iron oxidation is water-derived protons.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
