Research progress in wear resistance of high entropy alloy coatings prepared by laser cladding
The friction and wear of mechanical parts mainly occurs on the surface of the material, and about 80% of the failures of parts are caused by surface wear.Friction and wear increase the loss of material and energy, and reduce the reliability and safety ...

Wear and corrosion in medical applications [PDF]
Abstract Biomaterials applied to replace or restore body functions are exposed to different mechanical forces and corrosion processes due to body fluids, which might result in the generation of corrosion products, wear debris and particles potentially leading to inflammation and inhibition or loss of function. This brief review will give

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.

This study explored how effective nickel aluminide coatings are obtained in providing oxidation resistance applied to the Inconel 738 alloy, modeling with diffusion models. In the present study, kinetics and thermal behavior of the Inconel 738 alloy were studied by the low‐temperature thermoreactive aluminizing process, which was carried out at 625°C ...

Corrosion and Under-Load Wear Behaviors of Mg-Al-Mn Alloys in a NaCl Environment
In this study, the effects of cadmium (Cd) on 4 different alloys developed by casting the Mg-Al-Mn ternary composition, in which the second element is aluminum (Al), and the third element is manganese (Mn), based on magnesium (Mg) metal, which is known ...

Investigation of wear mechanism of tread during operation of railway wheels [PDF]
Causes of wear particles formation on railway wheels tread were investigated. Structural factors connecting with plastic deformation, formation of “white layer”, and also with non-metallic inclusions and corrosive products of wheel steel, defining wear ...

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
