Operation of structures with corrosive wear

Russian Engineering Research, 2013
An experimental-theoretical method is proposed for determining the mechanical properties of structures subject to corrosive wear. The corresponding apparatus is developed.

Corrosive Wear Principles

CORROSION 1992, 1992
Abstract The dual effects of corrosion and wear operate together in such industries as paper and pulp, coal handling, mining, and sugar beet extraction. There is a synergistic effect that causes far greater wastage to carbon steels, alloy steels, and even much more abrasion resistant cast irons.

Wear–corrosion mechanism of hard chromium coatings

Wear, 2002
Abstract Hard chromium coatings are frequently used for application where corrosion and wear degradation are combined, as an example in earthmovers, in mining transport systems or in moulds for plastics. The aim of this work is to study the mechanisms of tribocorrosion of hard chromium coated steel bars in a sodium chlorides solution under sliding ...

Corrosion and Wear

1991
The composition and physical integrity of a solid material are altered in a corrosive environment. In chemical corrosion, the material is dissolved by a corrosive liquid. In electrochemical corrosion, metal atoms are removed from the solid material as the result of an electric circuit that is produced.

Macrocyclic Compounds for Corrosion-Wear

CORROSION 1990, 1990
Abstract The possible application of Schiff base compounds as corrosion- and wear-protective additives in lubricant formulations suitable for use at high temperatures (i.e., ≥200 °C) has been investigated. In addition to their planar structure and quadridentate metal-binding characteristics similar to those of the macrocyclic compounds ...

The Role of Diffusion in Corrosive Wear

A S L E Transactions, 1968
Oxygen diffusion through the lubricant film is an important factor in corrosive wear, a type of wear where the primary attack is the formation of iron oxide at the rubbing surface. Experimental data were obtained in a ball-on-cylinder device and quantitatively correlated with oxygen availability by a mathematical model.

Friction, Lubrication, Wear and Corrosion

2018
Tribology is defined as the science that deals with the interaction between surfaces in motion and consequences of that interaction, i.e. friction, lubrication and wear. This chapter aims to define tribology in normal synovial joints and in joint replacements, with reference to corrosion in the latter.

Corrosive-wear of buoy chain

OCEANS '88. 'A Partnership of Marine Interests'. Proceedings, 2005
Abstract : Corrosive-wear, which is responsible for the majority of buoy chain degradation, was investigated in two laboratory studies. The objective of the first study was to isolate the two components, corrosion and wear, in order to determine each of their influences on the corrosive-wear process on steels.

Inhibition against Wear-Corrosion

CORROSION 1989, 1989
Abstract The simultaneous action of wear and corrosion may result in accelerated material losses due to their synergistic effect. Wear-corrosion is a complex phenomenon involving the interplay of a number of electrochemo-mechanical parameters.
