INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF CORRUGATED STRUCTURE ON CRASHING PERFORMANCE IN THIN-WALLED CIRCULAR TUBES

open access: yesInternational Journal of Automotive Science and Technology, 2017
Crash boxes are fasteners that are used in automobiles and have the ability to absorb energy emerged during impact. These parts can have different geometric properties.

A Functional 2D Carbon Allotrope Combining Nanoporous Graphene and Biphenylene Segments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis of a novel nanoporous graphene (NPG) is reported with biphenylene segments via thermal fusion of 12‐armchair porous graphene nanoribbons grown on gold surfaces. Characterization using STM, AFM, and DFT reveals low‐defect semiconducting behaviour and tunable band gaps.

Core design for use with precision composite reflectors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A uniformly flexible core, and method for manufacturing the same, is disclosed for use between the face plates of a sandwich structure. The core is made of a plurality of thin corrugated strips, the corrugations being defined by a plurality of peaks and ...

Using pipe with corrugated walls for a sub-terahertz FEL

open access: yes, 2014
It has been noted in the past, in the study of the wall-roughness impedance, that a metallic pipe with corrugated walls supports propagation of a high-frequency mode that is in resonance with a relativistic beam.

Spin‐Split Edge States in Metal‐Supported Graphene Nanoislands Obtained by CVD

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Combining STM measurements and ab‐initio calculations, we show that zig‐zag edges in graphene nanoislands grown on Ni(111) by CVD retrieve their spin‐polarized edge states after intercalation of a few monolayers of Au. ABSTRACT Spin‐split states localized on zigzag edges have been predicted for different free‐standing graphene nanostructures.

Superplastically formed diffusion bonded metallic structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
A metallic sandwich structure particularly suited for use in aerospace industries comprising a base plate, a cover plate, and an orthogonally corrugated core is described.

Label‐Free SERS Fingerprinting of Neuroprotein Conformational Dynamics in Human Saliva

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Galvanic molecular entrapment (GME) is a label‐free method for detecting and quantifying neuroprotein conformational states. This technique enables direct surface binding and in situ hotspot generation around molecules, effectively overcoming challenges related to target localization and mismatched hotspot geometries.

Flexible thermal apparatus for mounting of thermoelectric cooler [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A flexible heat transfer apparatus used to flexibly connect and thermally couple a thermoelectric cooler to an object to be cooled is disclosed. The flexible heat transfer apparatus consists of a pair of flexible corrugated sheets made from high thermal ...

Geometrically-tuned channel permeability

open access: yes, 2015
We characterize the motion of charged as well as neutral tracers, in an electrolyte embedded in a varying section channel. We exploit a set of systematic approximations that allows us to simplify the problem, yet capturing the essential of the interplay ...

2D Nanomaterials Toward Function‐Ready Superlubricity in Advanced Microsystems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A unified framework links structural and transformation superlubricity with microsystem functions and deployment requirements. Mechanisms, device architectures, integration strategies, AI‐guided discovery, and benchmarking protocols are connected to define function‐ready superlubricity in advanced microsystems.
