The shear response of lightweight corrugated core structures

Journal of Composite Materials, 2013
A combination of experimental, analytical and numerical techniques is used to characterise the shear response of lightweight corrugations based on glass fibre and carbon fibre reinforced epoxy resins. The corrugations were manufactured via a compression moulding procedure in which composite prepregs are cured between two serrated mould halves.

The mechanical behaviour of corrugated-core sandwich panels

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2013
A series of experimental investigations and numerical analyses is presented into the compression response, and subsequent failure modes in corrugated-core sandwich panels based on an aluminium alloy, a glass fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP) and a carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP).

Precise bending stress analysis of corrugated-core, honeycomb-core and X-core sandwich panels

Composite Structures, 2012
Abstract A semi-analytical method for bending analysis of corrugated-core, honeycomb-core and X-core sandwich panels is presented. The real displacement of sandwich panels is divided into the global displacement field and local displacement field. The discrete geometric nature of the core is taken into account by treating the core sheets as beams and

Sound Transmission Across Sandwich Structures with Corrugated Cores

2014
An analytic study of sound transmission through all-metallic, two-dimensional, periodic sandwich structures having corrugated core is presented. The space-harmonic method is employed, and an equivalent structure containing one translational spring and one rotational spring per unit cell is proposed to simplify the analysis of the vibroacoustic problem.

Elastic constants for adhesively bonded corrugated core sandwich panels

Composite Structures, 2017
Abstract In this paper, the adhesively bonded corrugated core sandwich panel is introduced and its elastic properties are discussed. Due to the relative displacement and rotation between face and core plates in adhesive joints caused by adhesive layer distortion, traditional elastic constants with considering both face and core plates to be fastened ...

An equivalent plate model for corrugated-core sandwich panels

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2015
This paper suggests an equivalent plate model to analyze the mechanical behavior of corrugated-core sandwich panels under tensile and bending loads. A homogenization-based theory based on the equivalent energy method is used to obtain the stiffness matrices of corrugated cores of a sandwich panel.
