Flexural Properties of 3D-printed hierarchical-sinusoidal corrugated core sandwich panels with natural fiber reinforced skins

open access: yes, 2022
The main aim of this study is to investigate the effect of printed hierarchical-sinusoidal corrugated core patterns and the load direction on the flexural properties of the cotton/epoxy composites sandwich panels. For the cores, six sinusoidal corrugated

Impact response of aluminum corrugated core sandwich panels

open access: yesInternational Journal of Impact Engineering, 2013
AbstractThe mechanisms of projectile penetration of extruded 6061T6 aluminum alloy sandwich panels with empty and alumina filled, triangular corrugated cores have been experimentally investigated using zero obliquity, 12.7 mm diameter hard steel projectiles whose diameter was about a half that of the core's unit cell width.

A Functional 2D Carbon Allotrope Combining Nanoporous Graphene and Biphenylene Segments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis of a novel nanoporous graphene (NPG) is reported with biphenylene segments via thermal fusion of 12‐armchair porous graphene nanoribbons grown on gold surfaces. Characterization using STM, AFM, and DFT reveals low‐defect semiconducting behaviour and tunable band gaps.

Reversible switching of surface texture by hydrogen intercalation

open access: yes, 2009
The interaction of atomic hydrogen with a single layer of hexagonal boron nitride on rhodium leads to a removal of the h-BN surface corrugation. The process is reversible as the hydrogen may be expelled by annealing to about 500 K whereupon the texture ...

Spin‐Split Edge States in Metal‐Supported Graphene Nanoislands Obtained by CVD

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Combining STM measurements and ab‐initio calculations, we show that zig‐zag edges in graphene nanoislands grown on Ni(111) by CVD retrieve their spin‐polarized edge states after intercalation of a few monolayers of Au. ABSTRACT Spin‐split states localized on zigzag edges have been predicted for different free‐standing graphene nanostructures.

Axial Compression Behavior of Steel Angle-Corrugated Steel Plate-Confined Concrete Columns

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
This paper proposes a novel type of steel angle-corrugated steel plate-confined concrete column (SA-CS column). The axial compression behavior of the SA-CS column was investigated by load experiments and finite element (FE) simulation.

Label‐Free SERS Fingerprinting of Neuroprotein Conformational Dynamics in Human Saliva

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Galvanic molecular entrapment (GME) is a label‐free method for detecting and quantifying neuroprotein conformational states. This technique enables direct surface binding and in situ hotspot generation around molecules, effectively overcoming challenges related to target localization and mismatched hotspot geometries.

Mesoscopic analysis of drag reduction performance of bionic furrow opener based on the discrete element method.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
In order to study the dynamic interface mechanical behavior between soil and agricultural machinery and reveal the causes of tillage resistance, three kinds of bionic furrow opener were designed according to the characteristics of earthworm head surface ...

CLASP Constraints on the Magnetization and Geometrical Complexity of the Chromosphere-Corona Transition Region

open access: yes, 2018
The Chromospheric Lyman-Alpha Spectro-Polarimeter (CLASP) is a suborbital rocket experiment that on 3rd September 2015 measured the linear polarization produced by scattering processes in the hydrogen Ly-$\alpha$ line of the solar disk radiation, whose ...
